“From its beginnings as an unassuming color, blue has become a magic formula through the ages, a sensory experience that entices and calms, that makes us dream and creates inner clarity. When looking at Conor Mccreedy’s paintings today, he plays with the nuances of only a single color. By creating his own Mccreedyblue, or Mccblue, onlookers are drawn in to experience the transformation of the autonomous color from monochrome to an abstract neo-expressionism.
This title invites readers to witness the semi-recognizable landscapes and portraits inhabited by peculiar forms that encapsulate the fragility of nature. An ode to his childhood in South Africa, these works are an attempt to stare into the face of nature, riddled with mysteries and deep thoughts. To be in the now with the wild, mystical adventure of the unknown power of the natural world. Statements from prominent figures within the art world supplement Mccreedy’s influential imagery.
Mccreedy has defined a distinct monochromatic blue vocabulary through his work since he started to paint in his early twenties. Disciplined by a single color, focusing on material exploration, the creative gesture and the spiritual connection between the artist and his work, he seeks to transcend visionary boundaries.” — Assouline
Musik Hug x Mccreedy, a one-of-a-kind collaboration. This piano company Steinway & Sons as we know, has the most patents in the world for any piano company, showcasing the perfect form and structure combined with Mccreedy‘s iconic chaos theory paintings throughout. We see the perfect combination that behind all chaos is immense structure. The foundation of Mccreedy‘s work is all about chaos and structure. On the inside of the piano we see the chaos Venn diagram study adjacent to the perfect structure and meticulous detailed workings of the interior baby grand. On the sides we see the dripping blue pigment in which Mccreedy‘s portrayal symbolizes the melting ice caps of global climate change. Throughout the top and the front of the piano are his very hand prints, forged and sealed in the painting on the piano, showcasing the power and importance of hands in relation to the piano. These handprints reveal irony as this piano has further technology known as Spiro, thus implementing self playing composed masterpieces without the human hand.

The Bath Shop x Mccreedy collaboration is a celebration of the Zurich Artisanal community that flourishes in the Alstadt from Rennweg down to Limmatquai. During the recent pandemic lockdown, Mccreedy and The Bath Shop began exploring ways to collaborate that would be Socio-politically awake, aesthetically gorgeous and provide viewers with a moment of respect during these turbulent times. The result is “The Blue Bath”, an eye- catching installation in which Mccreedy depicts his signature abstract chaos theory musings. The drain of the tub plays a central role, conjuring up impressions of failed systems being washed away so that the new ones might flourish. Seclusion and privacy has become our new reality.
