Mccreedy’s Painting Auctioned at Sothebys NYC
The Mccreedyblue painting titled “Indian Ocean Explosions” was auctioned during the March Contemporary Curated NYC Sotheby’s Live auction.
At his debut auction with Sotheby’s NYC, Conor Mccreedy saw his first-ever painting sold at a global live auction. The auction, Contemporary Curated NYC on March 2 included Mccreedy’s painting titled Indian Ocean Explosions which sold above its low estimate on the evening with over 5 different bidders on the floor bidding for the painting. The work sold for over $31, 000 USD and was about 130cm x 80 cm in size. This sets a new benchmark for the medium sized works for Mccreedy. The total sales price of the afternoon auction was $27,000,000 USD. This exceeded estimate total. Some of the artworks that were on auction included many of the world’s biggest artists living and dead, such as De Kooning, Miro, Calder, Richter, Basquiat, Munch, Hirst, Koons, Rushca and Condo.
