The art of Sleeping – the first ever luxury art bed collaboration
ZURICH (15 April 2016) — Internationally acclaimed contemporary artist Conor Mccreedy today announced his first ever luxury lifestyle collaboration with world-renown exclusive bedding manufacturer, Bernarda Beds. It is also the very first time for Bernarda to partner with a contemporary artist, creating a seductive and hypnotic truly one-of-a -kind piece of art in the trademark Mccreedyblue colours- called “ Blue Heaven”.“I savour the time I spend in bed and wanted to interpret my dreams, fantasies and passions into a work of art,” said Mccreedy.
“The rich heritage, dedication to excellence and environmentally friendly materials of Bernarda attracted me to collaborate with them. It was a blank canvas and I was free to start from scratch with my own design of the bed and creative concept. The design of “Blue Heaven” uses the artist’s famous Mccreedyblue pigment combined with the finest white leather and gold/brass pin buttons to create the first “bed as art” concept in the world. The bed is also made from the finest micro wood and silver to create the healthiest most exclusive bed in the world with wood craftsmanship at its finest. The Crafted wood base under the box spring is from Naturally fallen Austrian trees that have been found in the forest. This wood absorbs the humidity and theSilver technology prevents any germs, making this bed extremely healthy refined and luxurious. The mattress is modelled exactly on the artists body and weight, movements and comforts.
Soon to bee encased in a sleek glass box visual construction with its own air conditioned unit to preserve and protect the creation, it was launched publicly on Friday 15th April at MUBA Mustermesse Basel. It will then potentially be flown to Miami and put on display in the newly created Design District centre of the Miami in December 2016. The creation will then travel to global art exhibitions around the world including Frieze London, Hong Kong Art Basel and New York Frieze. CEO of Bernarda said, “We are thrilled to partner with Conor Mccreedy in taking our top quality beds into the world of contemporary art at the highest level— as they are truly works of art in their own right. Mccreedy’s work beautifully interprets the heavenly art of sleep.”
