Conor Mccreedy is born in Johannesburg, South Africa, February 11, the son of a property developer of French-Irish decent and a South African architect and interior designer.
Junior education, attends St. David’s Marist Brothers School, Johannesburg. His passion for painting starts at a very early age using his mother’s makeup brush and being fascinated by the pigments of coffee grounds.
He attends the private boarding school Hilton College in the Natal Midlands. He is known as an disruptive student who breaks the rules and his teachers describe him as an enigma. During his high school years he is passionate about sports and art. He is captain of the first golf team. He wins the First Prize in The Natal University Fine Arts Competition and the Kenneth Memorial Prize for Art.
Mccreedy moves to North Carolina, United States, where he is awarded a full golf scholarship. After six months he decides to move to London and to work as an artist.
He takes over renowned ballet dancer Margot Fonteyn’s old studio on Talgarth Road in London and sets up his first art studio. He mainly paints fine art portraits.
He moves to New York and studies at the Pratt Institute of Art and Design in Manhattan, New York. He works as a fashion model and begins selling his art on the streets of Union Square. There, he is discovered and becomes the youngest artist in history to hold a solo exhibition at the National Arts Club, a private members arts club in New York. This first exhibition is named “Outliers“.

Mccreedy creates his own colour “Mccreedyblue“, a combination of five unique pigments that he uses from now on exclusively for all of his paintings. For him, blue is “not only a colour, it is a philosophy and a way of life.“ He is commissioned by the american media company Time Warner to create their logo in his signature Mccreedyblue style. Solo exhibition “African Ocean“ at Charles Bank , Elizabeth Street Gallery, New York. A private collector buys the large-sized painting “Secret Movements“ for over USD 150.000, a record breaking price for an artist under 30.
Mccreedy’s painting of former South African President Nelson Mandela is stolen from New York. Interpol agency declares it priceless until returned to the artist. He founded the non-profit organisation P.A.L. (Protecting African Lions) together with celebrities and friends. South African Style Awards name him “Most Stylish Business Personality” in South Africa. Group exhibition, Everard Read Gallery, Johannesburg.
He moves to Zurich, Switzerland, and sets up his atelier headquarters in the heart of the city along the banks of the Limmat river.
